New Guests are invited to each meeting, but will pay an extra non-ICES member fee when registering.  Meetings usually consist of a luncheon, general meeting, and demonstrations of various aspects of sugar arts.  Each meeting fee includes the cost of the luncheon and demos.  Advance registration and payment are required.

ICES Certified Master Sugar Artist and 2009 St. Charles ICES Convention Show director Barb Evans from The Wedding Cake Connection of Peoria will be joining us for for our weekend of Sharing September 25-26, 2010. It’s CHOCOLATE DAY again and everyone is invited to have a yummy time with us. Barb will be hosting three classes that weekend and will be demonstrating her knowledge of chocolate with “Hold your Temper”— Chocolate 101 where you will learn about tempering, dipping, and making ganache truffles and other handmade chocolates . Lifetime member Marge Kehoe will be demonstrating her infamous Chocolate Doll technique. We’ll have other special treats for everyone too. So come join us!

Lunch will feature a buffet of assorted Deli Meats and Cheeses served with Rolls and Breads, Garden and Potato Salads, Assorted cookies and Coffee, Tea, and Decaf.

Cost: ICES members $29 before September 17th, $34 after September 17th.

Guests: $39 before September 17th, $44 after September 17th.

Miniature Gumpaste Flowers. Certified Master Sugar Artist Barb Evans will be teaching her technique in making miniature gumpaste flowers. This new trend is all the rage in England and other countries right now. These delicate beauties are great to have on hand for that little extra something to add to your work. Flowers will include, sunflowers, tulips, callas, daisy, rose, and mums.

Carving and Creating Pillow Cakes with Stenciling. You have all seen them, those cool cakes that resemble colorful pillows. Barb featured this technique in her certification test and a recent cake of hers was featured on the cover of the ICES newsletter last spring. Basic to Advanced Stringwork. This class will include basic stringwork techniques, bridgeless stringwork, and the more advanced Oriental stringwork.  These gravity defying techniques will leave your clients wondering, “How do they do that?”  A must set of skills for every sugar artist to learn and master.  Barb will also be demonstrating regular bridgework. Payment & Refund policy:  Advance registration is mandatory for all events! Payment shall be made by check and remitted with the proper registration forms by September 17th to avoid the late fee.
No refunds for classes or the Day of Sharing will be permitted after September 17h, 2010.  Requests for refunds must be made by phone or e-mail.  Student substitutions may take place with the approval of the MassICES treasurer for classes ONLY! Prior authorization is required and the student must pay any differences between member/non-member fees. You will receive an e-mail confirmation for CLASSES ONLY! Our Next Day of sharing

Local Meetings are called “Days of Sharing” (DOS).

They are held the last Sunday in the months of September,  January, March, and June, and take place in different regions of the state.

Typically we offer classes  during those same weekends on Saturday and Sunday which are conducted by our guest  instructors.
